The Barra Family Christmas Card 2010

The text on the card are hard to read on this blog so you can read it below:

Hi Everyone!

We've almost survived another year! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. With only a semester left to finish my bachelor's degree I am very excited. Kaleb, I believe can't wait either so that he will be able to receive more attention from me, although I think he will miss bugging me soooo much while I am on the computer because one of his favorite games is to try and push the power button while I am working. As he tries to press the button he giggles very loudly.

This year Thomas has been able to move up to a financial manager position at his work. He is working very hard, but we are very grateful for his employment this year because it was not easy to find him a job and we also feel lucky that he has been able to get a job in the field of his choice.

I've also been lucky to find a job at Fantastic Sam's Salon working a few Saturdays each month. It is so fun for me to get out of the house a little and do what I love.

Kaleb is growing so much I just can't believe it. He seems as though he is a little man now. His main concerns in life consist of balls, Elmo, and treats. Everything else is just in the scenery for
him. We love our little soccer player. He is not yet two and he can drop-kick the ball, use footwork, and make goals at the end of the hall. One of his first words this year was during the soccer world cup and he would say, "gooooaaaalllllll" as he kicked the ball to the end of the hall.

We hope everyone has had a good year as we feel we have had and if not, it's almost a new year right!? ... and I can't wait for 11:00 church. ;o)

Love/ Thomas, Liz, and Kaleb Barra

September 2010

Kaleb learning how to mow the lawn on Grandpa's (zero radius turn) lawn mower.

Kaleb hanging out on Grandpa's famous scout trailer.

Kaleb showing off his baby modeling skills.

Kaleb loves the hammock... he has been caught a couple of times sleeping on it!

Each month goes by and I just can't post because I don't want to break my record. After 5 months of that, I've finally decided to post again. I guess I can't be that boring right? I thought I would share some of the milestones Kaleb has been overcoming these past few weeks. He is 18 months old now!

1. Kaleb can now climb onto his rocking chair and read himself a story.

2. Kaleb has learned the joys of brushing his own teeth and carries his toothbrush around the house almost all day... I guess you never know when you are going to have stinky breath right?

3. Kaleb is bilingual... he can now say hola and hi. (Sometimes it comes out as hilah.) He can also say goal, cookie, bzzz, mum, mmmmm, oooh, and dad.

4. Kaleb has become the top party animal in our household. Every time a song comes on he is the first to stop everything he is doing and start "jamming" to the music.

5. And finally, Kaleb has learned how to break dance. (As witnessed by me and Karen)

Oh how we love our little Kaleb. Some days it has been a challenge to do my homework and pay attention to him though. Lately when ever I turn on the computer in the mornings, he mysteriously wants me to cuddle with him at that very moment. He conveniently puts a barrier between me and the computer and refuses to let me hold him and touch the computer at the same time. What a character, but how could I refuse cuddling with my little one... right??? Untill next time... hopefully it won't be in another 5 months;o)

What An eventful month!!! Here are three main things that happened this month:

1st:
I have two adorable new nieces, thanks to my sister Karen ;o) Madison Summer is on the Left and Marissa Nicole is on the Right.
They were born on April 3, 2010!

2nd: My In-laws came to visit us from Chile from April 16-29! It was so nice to finally meet my in-laws. We were able to visit temple square, drive to East Canyon Reservoir, and even go to Las Vegas together! We were sad to see them go, and they were sad to leave their only Grandson... so hopefully we will be able to visit them someday in Chile!

3rd: The moment we've all been waiting for.....Kaleb finally walked the day after his grandparents went back to Chile on Friday April 30, 2010!!!! He is so naughty ;o) Here is a video of him walking... It is soooo cute.

Kaleb's beautiful new cousin Abby

This week Kaleb's new cousin Abby was born on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. She was born at 4:30 in the morning and was 8 lbs and 4 oz and 24 inches long.Claudia and the baby are doing great after a C section. Kaleb can't wait to meet his beautiful cousin but he has to wait until he gets better from his cold so that he does not get his new cousin sick too! We can't wait to meet Abby, she looks so cute in this picture!

Kaleb Laughing

I can NEVER get Kaleb to laugh in front of the camera... but for some reason today he thought the camera was really funny! Here is just a short clip of Kaleb laughing. Enjoy it while you can, because he is pretty shy in front of people!!!

Kaleb's "New Trick" Video

This video is just a sample of Kaleb in action. As you can see, he keeps busy all day long! (This video is about 3 min. long)

Karen's Diaper Cake On Steroids!

This is a picture of Karen's Diaper Cake that my lovely mother made for my sister's baby shower. (I provided the diapers by using my coupons of coarse.) The "diaper" shower was a great success with the help of my mom! We ate a lot of food on my grandmother's State Plates and we played a few games. The room was very intense as the women fought over prizes to get their favorite candy bar! My favorite part of the party was hearing the story of why my sister decided to get pregnant again after eight years. I had heard the story through the grape vine, but it was so much more special hearing it from her in person and I am so excited for the twin girls to join our family soon!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

This week we took Kaleb to the mall to celebrate Valentines day. He had so much fun in his little red car. He was steering the wheel like he was really driving. I can tell our little son is going to have a love for cars just like his Papa. I was happy too because I love to go shopping!!! We had an exciting adventure on our way out of the mall chasing down every red car to try and find Kaleb's fallen shoe. His shoe was finally recovered in a red car inside the food court! Awe... what a day! Excitment, love, loss, and adventure. All in a days work.
